Action Learning Sets

Thinking and Doing!

Developing practice in the use of new technology and Social Media within the CLD sector.

We are pleased to invite you to be a participant in the Digitally Agile CLD Action Learning programme. This initiative follows from the first two phases of the hugely successful Digitally Agile CLD programme which has explored the barriers and opportunities for the use of new technology and Social Media in the CLD sector.

We will use Action Learning Sets to support practitioners in the workplace and develop a better understanding of the use of new technology and social media in practice.  Action Learning is an approach which involves both thinking and doing; and which can be of great benefit when people come together to make progress on a common purpose.  The process will help us to:

  • Learn more about the use of new technology and Social Media in the CLD field.

  • Challenge peers and existing practice in constructive discussions.

  • Learn from good practice and develop new ideas and different solutions.

  • Provide insight into how others achieve solutions this in turn creates insight into problem solving.

  • Develop a group of people who are, for periods of time, mentors for each other.

The creation of these Action Learning Sets is to extend the opportunity for hands-on engagement with new technologies, active learning, and joint practice sharing. This opportunity is available to CLD practitioners working with young people, communities and/or adult education who are interested in developing practice and sharing learning about using new technology including social media.  Participants must be able to commit to 3 half day (mix of physical and electronic meetings) discussion between September 2013 and the end of February 2014.

The first meeting will be held in [September/October 10.30am to 12.30 venues to be confirmed. Thereafter the meeting place and time will be set and agreed by the Action Learning group.]
